It'll sure stand out in their minds, especially when they grow old and start to reminisce about their wasted past.

by UNCONDITIONAL LOVE inan easy way to stump the delusional jws at your door is come to the door with sunglasses on holding a sign with the words in the above title, and not say a word.

You're welcome ...
by Simon ini figured i'd shut the site down for a couple of hours to encourage everyone to do their xmas shopping.
the error message was a subtle hint, that's what "500 error" means ... go shopping.. whatever rumours you hear, it definitely wasn't that someone deployed a quick update before going on a 1.5 hour car ride to pick someone up and didn't think that the page they tested, to check it was all working after the update, happened to be cached.
no siree bob, not that, na hah.. anyway, you're welcome for the extra chance to, erm, shop..

JWs vandalizing homes/property of apostates
by StarTrekAngel ini have read over the past few years of many cases of elder harassment and unwanted visitations.
however, there is a couple of stories out there where it has been presented that eventually the apostate in question comes home one day to find that their home has been trashed or covered with graffiti, which by the words written, seems to imply that it was a jw taking "revenge" or seemingly delivering divine justice against the apostate.
most of these are stories i've read online from several years ago.. have you individually or the group ever heard or stumbled upon these cases?

StarTrekAngel and Simon, that's scary. I thought that all Witnesses were too passive to do such a thing.

StarTrekAngel,
...it all looked like it was just panic attacks as he had experienced them in the past himself.
Me too and I also felt those panic attacks in my chest. I felt them when I was in field service.

Disassociation - shunning - can we all lobby Government that it is against freedom of religion?
by stockholm_Syndrome inif jws want to inflict shunning on members who want to remain -- knock yourselves out.
but if someone wants to leave - dont believe in an evil almighty god, bible ...or just dont agree with the rules- they should be free to leave- even after being 'disfellowshipped'.
i think it was pre 1980 that you could disassociate yourself without shunning repercussions.

The Media will treat any issue about the JWs like a tempest in a teapot.

A Believer,
Jehovah witnesses are Christians in that we follow christ.
Your organization doesn't even believe that the Ransom applied to the ordinary Jehovah's Witness ("Great Crowd"). What's more they make it overt by not partaking of the emblems which is Christianity's holiest ritual based on the idea of a ransom.

You should have added in your title "Theist". There are those who believe in a god but not in the Bible.
As for me, atheist with a pantheistic leaning.

Question for believers here, Ecclesiastes 1:4 and Psalm 105;5 "Earth remain forever".
by James Mixon inwhat is your understanding on the earth remain forever???
today it's a fact (99,999%) that the earth will be consumed by the sun in the future be it 3 million or 3 billion years.
a topic we have been discussing here on paradise earth in the last two or three days and i notice no believer chimed in.

One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever. - Ecclesiastes 1:4 New King James VersionOff topic but...
That verse from Ecclesiastes is one of my favorite Bible verses. It is also the Bible verse that the title of the book Earth Abides is inspired by. Earth Abides is an apocalyptic fiction book that shows how nature and humans living in nature can reconquer the earth after 99.99% of humanity dies. No blood and guts like modern sci-fis, just a peaceful transition to a state of nature. It is one of my favorite books.
As for the Earth getting vaporized 5 billion years from now, it will first undergo runaway greenhouse effect by a warming sun in just 1 billion years. The sun gets warmer throughout its lifespan.
As for the contradiction between those Bible verses and science, it would be stated by an apologist of the Bible that God will prevent that fate from happening in a perfect universe.

Elder: Do you believe that Jehovah is using the Organization today?
Iamallcool: On what basis do you say that the organization is Jehovah's?
Elder: Look at all our doctrines, it must be The Truth!
Iamallcool: Can't Satan use a doctrinally correct false prophet to mislead others?
Elder: ???????????

Learning Other Languages
by Disassociated Lady 2 inthe jw org keeps its servants busier than ever these days so that their minds are occupied 24/7.
they ensure that there is no time for anything "worldly" to distract them.. in last week's watchtower article on spiritual health they are putting pressure on the congregation to learn other languages on top of everything else they do.
they allude to the fact that their spiritual health will suffer if they cannot understand the talks and publications in other languages.

Could their cutback on literature have anything to do with this? Supposedly, they have literature in other languages but maybe they don't want to be bothered with the work of translation.
